About Plasma Skin Resurfacing Melbourne
PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) when combined with microneedling is used to stimulate production of structural proteins that gives skin its elasticity and smooth texture. Just like with hair, as we age the physiological systems the body uses to regenerate our skin, with time become less effective, visually this converts to skin laxity, wrinkles and colour changes. Although these effects are a standard part of ageing, the advancements in medicine mean we have ways to optimise how our bodies generate and maintain our skin.
At Elucell, we are proud to offer a combined PRP and microneedling procedure. Using a Dermapen 4 which glides over the skin creating millions of fine, vertical fractional channels up to 104% faster than other microneedling pens. These channels can carry up to 80% more topical nutrients deeper into the skin. The micro-injuries trigger a natural process of repair, increasing the production of collagen and elastin and visibly improving a wide range of skin concerns. When combined with PRP, a concentrate of the necessary proteins and nutrients to stimulate and support new collagen, accelerate the bodies healing process and promote skin cell turnover.
Which is a long lasting and non surgical alternative to managing acne scarring, pigmentation abnormalities, signs of ageing (expression lines, sagging skin) and sun damaged skin. By taking a small sample of your blood (less than 30mls), we are able to isolate 5-10mls of PRP which is then mico-needled into the skin.
We can also use PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin) in a series of gentle injections around the eyes, mouth and nose. The treatment is a completely natural alternative to dermal fillers. For more information, view PRF Fillers.
We provide gold standard treatment. When it comes to skin resurfacing treatments, experience matters.

The Plasma Skin Resurfacing Treatment
How is the plasma skin resurfacing or PRP (platelet rich plasma) cosmetic facial needling treatment performed?
Step 1. Your comfort is our number one priority so we begin each treatment session with a facial cleanse application of topical anaesthetic to numb the treatment area. It only takes a few minutes for the anesthetic to sink in and begin to work.
Step 2. While we are waiting for the anaesthetic, we take a small portion of your blood (15mls) to create your PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) for the treatment and spin it in a centrifuge machine to separate the plasma.
Step 3. Your platelets are then concentrated to about three times your normal blood value which will stimulate hair growth in the treatment area.
Step 4. A specialised microneedling pen is used to create tiny microscopic channels in the outer layer of your skin, these channels, depending on the facial area are 1mm – 3mm in depth. We then gently apply the prepared PRP serum to the micro needled area. For deeper wrinkles or acne scarring, would also include the use of PRP injections.
The PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) facial/skin needling or Plasma Skin Resurfacing treatment takes around 45 minutes and we recommend up to 4 sessions 4 weeks apart to achieve optimal results (especially for more severe forms of acne scarring).
Following the Plasma Skin Resurfacing treatment, the treated area will experience a level of inflammation (redness, tightness, tenderness) that will resolve within 12-48 hours. You should begin to see an improvement in your skin complexion within 2 weeks, however optimal results will become more noticeable over the following months.
How should I care for my skin after my PRP skin needling treatment?
Are there any side effects of PRP skin needling?
Your skin may feel dry and tight during this period, it’s important to ensure skin is adequately hydrated (drink lots of water and keep skin moisturised with the suggested aftercare balm)
Avoid excessive sun exposure, rigorous exercise, sauna, hot baths or excess alcohol for 24-48 hours as this will increase the swelling and possibility of bruising. Some clients may experience a headache or feel faint.
A bruise at the venipuncture (very small vein puncture) site may be visible for 2-3 days.
